Upon successful completion of English Composition I, you will be able to 1) improve your writing skills through the process of pre-writing, drafting, editing and revising, 2) build confidence, fluency and grammatical correctness in your writing by working on strategies that promote independence and self-evaluation of your own writing. You will be asked to do a writing sample in the first class and your improvement will be compared against this sample. You will also asked to do reading assignments, complete many short writing assignments, and produce at least three longer revised essays to achieve these goals.

Attendance and participation: 10% (meaning you need to be physically here AND actively participate; this include individual meetings) Writing assignments: 45% Response to readings & Vocab review: 15% (on e-platform) Peer-editing: 10% Midterm in-class writing: 10% (This will be compared against your sample) Final in-class writing: 10% (This will be compared against your midterm writing/sample)
