英國是怎麼形成的?英語如何成為世界性的語言?英國主流文化如何扎根於全球媒體之中?從物質的角度來看,羅馬人帶來建築與公共設施、維京人帶來遠航海船、諾曼第人帶來武器、非洲黑人帶來北美及中南美洲生產的棉花、糖、菸草、印度移民則帶來帝國擴張所需的原物料及人力;從非物質的角度來看,多元族群與社會延伸出新的政治制度以及文化認同,這些過程孕育出英國獨特的社會樣貌,授課內容分為三大單元: 遠古與中古 近世與殖民 帝國與革命
無先修科目,但建議學生具備基礎英文閱讀能力
