The course aims to provide the fundamentals of discrete time signal processing.
Signals and Systems, Introduction to Digital Signal Processing
On the day the homework is due, the students are to present their own homework solution to the entire class. content: 1. Review – examples of D.-T. signals, and basic D.-T. signals – system properties: causality, stability – LTI systems, impulse response, convolution, difference equations – DTFT and examples of basic signals 2. Z-transform: – definition, and relations to signal convolution, system properties, e.g., casuality and stability, and D.-T. Fourier transform – inverse Z-transform – properties 3. sampling – F.T. of continuous time signals and discrete time sequences – sampling theorem, aliasing and reconstruction – discrete time processing of continuous time signals 4. Fourier analysis of LTI systems: rational systems, magnitude and phase, minimum phase, allpass, and linear phase 5. implementation – rational system and difference equation – block diagram – structures 6. multirate system: building blocks, polyphases, & fractional sampling rate conversion 7. filter design 8. DFT 9. FFT 10. * Fourier analysis of signals and short-time Fourier transform
