This course is an intermediate-level EM course preparation for applied EM. It provides theoretical basis for a better understanding of numerical EM technique-based CAD tool and prepares students for reading papers in relevant EM application. Subjects to be covered Ch. I: Introduction Ch. 2: Fundamental Field Equations & Antenna Fundamentals Ch. 3: Waves in (Inhomogeneous and) Layered Media Ch. 4: Waveguides and Cavities Ch. 5: Green's Functions
1. Undergraduate electromagnetics 2. Mathematical tools: Vector calculus, Differential equations
Mix of lecture slides, transparencies, and blackboard writing
Homework assigments: 20% Computer exercises (2-3): 20% Exams (x3): 60% (Rights reserved to modify grading policies)
