Quantum Mechanics (5071) and Statsitical Mechanics (5073) are combined classes to teach quantum mechanics. In this classs, I will teach important topics of quantum mechanics, which I will not teach in Quantum Mechanics (5071) including formulation for density matrix, how to use discontinuity of quantum, quantum statistics, boson and fermion (e.g., electron), and so on. In particular, the density matrix is very important because it can deal with mixed states as well as pure states. Note that quantum states in real is almost mixed state and differs from pure state which is a solution of Shrodinger equation. The relation of mixed states and pupre states is used to determine fidelity which is an important concept in the development of quantum computer. Statistical mechanics as well as quantum mechanics (i.e., quantum-statistical mechanics) is the basic scholar of modern science and technologies such as nanotechnologies, quantum computing, information theory, reliability physicsl in engineering... The characteristics of statistical mechanics is to connect concepts of continuity (macroscopic entity) and discontinuity (nanoscopic entity); which enables us to expand knowledge in today's engineering to nanoelectronics and quantum conputing. Statistiacal mechanics is the basics of the transport phenoena in any area of science and technologies. In this course, the Boltzmann transport equaiton is explained in detail, which is the master equation in nanoelectronics. At the end of the course, a neuvel topic of information technology related to statistical mechanics, that is, blockchain will be reviewed in detail. The level of this course is an introductory of quantum-statistical mechanics for engineering students. NOTE: strongly recommend to attend the Quantum Mecchanics (5071), too. I illustrate: 1) What statistical mechanics is. Of course, it is different from statistics in mathmatics. 2) Quantum mechanics is turned out to be a part of statistical mechanics. 3) preliminary approach to quantum many body problem. 4) Blockchain as required or possible.
Physics, Electron devices, Calculus, Linear Algebra
The lectures will be given in blackboard writing and power point presentation. All reports and questions should be made in English.
