This course will provide an overview of the fundamentals of cognitive neuroscience and introduce the brain networks underlying the development of attention and learning and their relationships. We will also evaluate previous studies that attempt to bridge cognitive neuroscience and education. By the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding of the brain structures and functions and how they support attention and develop over time. Students will also learn about the recent developments in cognitive neuroscience that may have potential applications to education and learning. They will develop their own reflection and critical evaluation on the ongoing debates about using cognitive neuroscience research to inform education and learning.
======================================== First and second class meetings will be held online using Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/cus-rqvq-tnb ======================================== ***PLEASE NOTE*** 1. This course is suitable for students who are interested in understanding the relationship between attention, learning and the developing brain but have no background in cognitive neuroscience. 2. All learning materials used in this course are in English. Students are expected to have an adequate level of English proficiency to be able to understand the required reading. 3. This course is offered at postgraduate level. Undergraduate students who are interested in taking this course are strongly advised to contact the course instructor as early as possible before registering to determine if the course is suitable for you.
