大一英文(一)

Freshman English I is an integrated course designed to develop students' four English skills (listening, speaking, reading, & writing) with an emphasis on speaking and listening. In this course, students will 1. identify listening problems and develop listening strategies and skills, 2. gain confidence in speaking and improve speaking fluency, pronunciation, and conversation strategies, 3. develop critical thinking, knowledge creation and innovation skills, 4. develop writing fluency by giving students opportunities to articulate ideas in short writings of approximately 170-200 words, 5. continue to develop listening and speaking skills

N/A 備註:選課系統上之正選生若第一次上課(9/27)未出席也未事先完成缺課請假程序,將視同放棄修課權利,名額將直接由候補者遞補。第一週將進行檢核測驗,佔學期成績2%。 第一堂課的線上連結已公告於E3,若需加簽者請來信取得連結,且須參加第一堂課方可取得候補資格。

(1) Attendance: * Attend classes and participate in class and activities * Late arrivals and unexcused absence for 3 times without prior approval or official reasons will affect your attendance mark. (2) Assignments and Final Project: * Turn in each assignment on time. Scores will be deducted for late assignments. You will be asked to turn in the late assignment within one week. * Finish your group presentation collaboratively with your members. (3) Class Etiquette and Participation: * Turn off your cell phones during class ABSOLUTELY. Each cell phone ringing during class may affect the score in "participation”. * Dozing off or without a textbook will affect your grade. (4) Others * The details of writing assignments, group presentation, quizzes will be given in weekly course schedule and E3. * Adjustments may be made in the syllabus to meet students' needs and course requirements. * Intellectual Property Right: Use only copyrighted textbook in class. * No make-up exams will be given unless there is an official reason with prior approval.

(1) Attendance: 10% (2) Participation 10% (3) Midterm exam: 20% (4) Final exam: 20% (5) Language enhancement activities (GEPT in-class simulation test and relevant activities such as English Tables, Lectures...) 15% (6) Required Writing Passage 5% (a passage of 170-200 words) (7) Assignments and quizzes: 10% (8) Final Project (Group Presentation): 10%
