概述

This course covers a wide spectrum of hybrid nuclear cardiac imaging and quantification. The course will start with an introduction of medical physics and instrumentation of various medical imaging systems, followed by a comprehensive description of image generation, reconstruction and correction for advanced hybrid radionuclide imaging. Methodology and validation of nuclear cardiac image quantification for the detection of abnormalities of myocardial perfusion and left ventricular function will be extensively described and experimental data and clinical cases will be illustrated accordingly. In addition, special lectures for advanced molecularly targeted and sympathetic cardiac imaging and quantification will be presented. Ultimately, students will be provided with a unique Yale software package (Wackers-Liu CQ?) for nuclear cardiac SPECT and PET quantifications. This software package can be installed in students’ computers and used for teaching and research purposes. The course will be concluded with a step-by-step demonstration by the instructor as well as with hand-on practices by the students to use the Wackers-Liu CQ? software and to learn clinical diagnoses based on the images and quantitative results of several preloaded clinical cases.

教學方式

After this course, students are expected to: 1. Understand the basics of nuclear medicine and the methods of hybrid radionuclide image generation, reconstruction and quantification, 2. Have comprehensive acquaintance of recent developments in hybrid SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MR cardiac imaging technology, 3. Use sophisticated quantification software to process and analyze cardiac SPECT and PET images for precise clinical diagnoses based on the images and quantitative results of myocardial perfusion and sympathetic innervation studies.

評分方式

Students attending and completing the course are required to submit a final written report (~ 10 pages), preferably in English, for evaluation of the knowledge and technology learned and gained from this course. The course attendees will be graded, using the grading system: A+ (>= 90), A (85 – 89), A- (80 – 84), B+ (75 – 79), B (70 – 74), B- (65 – 69) and C (< 65), based on quality of the final report and attendance record of the students.
