This course is a continuous introduction of general physics. In this semester, however, the focus will be shifted from mechanical systems to electricity and magnetism. We will start from static electricity (Coulomb law) by describing how electric charge interact with electric field and eventually leading to the introduction of the first passive circuit element, the capacitor. Then, we will move to current by letting the charge to flow in a conductor and introduce the second circuit element, the resistor. Then, we will move to magnetism by firstly describing how a moving electric charge interacts with the magnetic field and, eventually, show the intimate connections between electricity and magnetism. Then, we will summarize the electromagnetism with the Maxwell equations. Finally, the quantum theory and quantum mechanics will be briefly introduced to prepare students for the next level studies.
