This class will introduce several key developments of modern physics. Since the 20th century, people have witnessed quite a few new findings in physics, and many of them are fundamental to advanced technologies nowadays. This class aims to introduce students to those key knowledge in modern physics. The content of this class is listed below: 1. Blackbody Radiation 2. Photoelectric effect, Compton Effect 3. Matter Wave Duality, De Broglie 4. Wave Function and Its Properties 5. Atomic Structure 7. Bohr Atom 6. Introduction to Wave Mechanics 7. Atomic Structure: the H Atom 8. Multi-Electron Atoms and Molecules 9. Introduction to Statistical Physics 10. Free Electrons and Solids 11. Solid State Physics
