This course will introduce all the essential elements and methodologies for traffic control, including roadway capacity analysis, critical lane volume analysis, and various control approaches for urban networks, such as isolated intersection control, coordinated control, and interchange control. Both the pre-timed and adaptive controls will be covered in this course. Moreover, in the lab session, the signal control optimization and simulation software will be introduced, and students can implement what they learned on the traffic simulation platform. The objective of the course is to provide students a comprehensive understanding of traffic control methodologies.
