有機化學(一)

The objective of the organic chemistry (I) is to provide a fundamental knowledge in the properties and chemical reactions of organic molecules. Chapters concerning electronic structures, chemical bonding, and acid-base concept will be briefly revised. More intensive discussion will be devoted to the topics on basic stereochemistry, alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, delocalization in conjugated compounds, substitution/elimination of alkyl halides, and reactions of alcohols, ethers, and amines. Reactions for carbonyl compounds will also be taught to some extent.

Abilities for English listening and reading are required because the course will be mainly given by English and recommended textbook is written in English.

Will be announced in the class

Quizzes (two to three), and Final examination (95%). Attendance (5%) Dates of final examination will be announced in the class.

Organic Chemistry from Prof Paula Bruice, eighth Edition.
