Attendance (including individual meetings), participation, and pop quizzes (25%): You will lose your attendance point if you are late for class for more than five minutes. You need to email me in advance whether you have excused absence. More details see https://scahss.sa.nycu.edu.tw/?page_id=347 Class participation is not the same as attendance. Here are some ways you can earn your participation point: 1) in class discussions, answer one question, share at least one comment, or ask a question (by speaking or by leaving messages in the chat box when we meet virtually) and 2) in group discussions, discuss at least one idea/question and write it down in Google docs. No eating, net surfing, or phubbing in class. Your grade will be severely impacted if you do any of these. Writing assignments (50%): All assignments should be submitted in a timely manner whether you have excused absence for the day the assignment is due. If you need an extension (of two days), email me 24 hours before the due date to request one. If you do not ask for extensions and the assignments are late, they will be penalized 10 points for each day the paper is late. If the assignment is more than five days late, it will not be accepted.
