本課程以導讀認知科學英文科普讀物的方式,預期達到以下目標: (1) 訓練學生建立有效率的英文閱讀習慣以及邏輯演繹思考能力; (2) 引領學生學習「認知科學革命」,以及此典範轉移(paradigm shift)如何影響當代的語言科學研究(=研究人類物種獨有的習得/運用語言的認知機制); (3) 由於認知科學是一個需要密集跨領域合作的學門(包括心理學、語言學、電腦資訊科學、腦神經科學、社會學、哲學等),學生在閱讀本學門科普文獻的過程中將了解在未來學術或是職涯發展橫向合作的重要性。 (4) 帶領學生了解在現今認知科學與人工智慧(AI)的發展下,為何Google工程師可以製作出可打敗人腦的下棋程式(如AlphaGo),卻無法發展出能夠像人類一樣自發且自然講話的電腦程式? (即認知科學界的名言:「人類認為困難的事情電腦容易解決,人類視為理所當然容易的事情電腦卻很難克服」)
1. Students from the Yang Ming campus are not supposed to take this course UNLESS they can come to the Chiao Tung campus to attend the lecture session in person. 2.
