Clustering algorithms are fundamental in the age of big data. We plan to cover a number of topics related to clustering (not in the given order): - Basic clustering algorithms: sequential clustering, hierarchical clustering, and k-means - Graph based clustering - Density based clustering - Message-passing based clustering - Clustering of relational data - Clustering of categorical data - Fuzzy clusters - Cluster ensembles - Cluster validity and cluster tendency - Mode-seeking clustering - Clusters and neural networks - Related unsupervised learning methods

Knowledge in linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory Programming in a high-level language

We will use New E3 for class material distribution and assignment submission. If online instruction is used (TBD), we will use google meet.
