This course introduces various coordinate systems and time systems for satellite observations. Basic theories of satellite orbit motions are presented, with useful formulae for works in precise positioning and remote sensing. Several satellite observation technologies are introduced, including methods using Doppler shift, laser, radar and its interferometry, and gravitational force. These technologies are useful for detecting changes associated with climate change. Table of contents: 1. Coordinate and time systems for satellite observations 2. Satellite orbital motion and determination 3. Satellite observations and geodetic satellites 4. Satellite Doppler positioning 5. Satellite laser ranging and very long baseline interferometry: geocentric coordinate system and earth’s rotation speed and blackhole 6. Satellite altimetry: marine gravity, sea level change, ocean circulation and glacier melt 7. Satellite gravity missions: detecting changes in global climate and water resource 8. Satellite-borne interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR): monitoring land subsidence and changes in ground and oceanic surfaces
