The goal of this course is to help students to understand motivational theories and their application in e-learning. The content of this course is based on motivational variables, including: expectancy-control theory, self-efficacy and self-concept theory, attribution and social cognition theories, goal orientation, intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation and the effects of values, interest and emotion on motivated behavior and decisions. Students in this course will be encouraged to learn to: 1. Understand motivational theories. 2. Understand motivational variables. 3. Apply motivation research to solving motivation problems and generating research proposals related to e-learning. 4. Identify the research-based components of typical motivational strategies used by individuals, teams, teachers, trainers, and managers at work and in school. 5. Be able to make presentations and complete research papers based on various theories learned from this course.
This course is taught in English. Students are encouraged to speak English for in-class discussions, online discussions, and research presentations.
