個別研究

Independent Study aims to help students prepare their own thesis/dissertation projects or develop specific areas of research.Please e-mail me at the beginning of the semester (ie. first week) to introduce yourself, discuss your reading list or target archive, and arrange our individual meeting schedule. We can meet once a month, four to five times each semester, depending on your progress. Before each meeting (ie. at least two days ahead), please send me your reading note, field note, or response paper regarding the materials you work on. I particularly welcome those who plan to work on media and film studies, architecture/city/infrastructure critique, war/military history, environmental/ecological criticism, or modern literature and visual cultures. 個別研究意在協助碩博班同學發展個別化閱讀書單,探索特定研究領域,以便進行各階段論文寫作。 有意進行個別研究的同學請於學期第一週與我聯繫,以便安排該學期會面時間及確定閱讀/寫作進度。 原則上,我建議每個月至少會面討論1次,每學期4次。請於學期初與我討論、擬定閱讀書單或欲調查之文獻檔案,並於每次會面2天前將閱讀或調查筆記以電子郵件寄給我。我歡迎對媒介/電影研究、建築/城市/基礎設施 、東亞戰爭文化史、生態敘事與影像、近現代文學與報刊文化等領域有興趣與我進行個別研究。

The course is only eligible to students who have already contacted me individually and have obtained my approval before registration.
