This course intends to enhance listening and speaking skills by means of introducing and familiarizing students with popular programs with various topics (such as society, culture, politics and so on) from mainly BBC Radio 4 (British). During the first hour of the weekly course, students are asked to listen three times of the selected program. While listening the material, they are also required to take notes. In the second hour, students are allowed to have around 8-minute group discussion and then, each student will have to give a roughly 2-minute summary or feedback of what they have heard. Students’ progress of this training will be recorded, and each student will be commented upon in order to strengthen their listening and speaking skill.

After taking this intensive training course, students’ listening and speaking skills will be greatly improved. They will, at the same time, be familiar with current affairs in a variety of fields.

Student Group/Weekly Oral Report: 1. Summary of the Program (please do not use slide) (5 minutes maximum each student) ---1st Student: the first half of the program ---2nd Student: the second half of the program 2. 3rd student explaining why the person had a great life and giving extra materials related to the life (slide is needed) (5 minutes maximum) Midterm Exam: 3-Minute Presentation 1. One PPT Slide is required, better to include pictures 2. The presentation (in full English) must be finished in 3 minutes 3. The presentation should be about the facts that interest you the most (the facts should be from the radio) 4. A 250-300 words summary of your presentation should be submitted on the day of the student’s presentation Final Term Exam: 6 Minutes Oral Presentation (*Students will have to stay on the stage for at least 5 minutes.), including: 1. 4 Minutes Explaining Why the Person Had a Great Life based on the material given in the program 2. 2 Minutes Explaining Your Own Thoughts About the Person’s Life
