課堂中將選讀兼具科學思維與文學藝術高度之英文文章,帶領學生了解英文寫作之邏輯架構,磨練以英文角度思考和表達的能力。選讀文章除了涵蓋科學領域中具代表性的雜誌期刊,亦挑選紐約時報、紐約客、經濟學人等資源,期盼學生在廣泛接觸各領域的文體時,能培養長遠的英文寫作興趣及能力。The course is designed to introduce students to the English writing, reading, and thinking skills necessary for success in their future careers. Upon completing this course, students will be able to evaluate and compose English essays. To achieve these outcomes, students will get full exposure to a wide range of English prose from scientific journals in different fields as well as articles in magazines such as the New Yorker. Students will practice reading and develop their own style of English writing throughout the course.
