粒子加速器通常與高能或核物理有關。文獻統計資料指出,如果我們仔細分析全球裝置的數量,我們可以很容易地注意到大約50%主要用於醫療應用(放射治療、醫用放射性同位素生產、生物醫學研究)。考慮到醫學診斷技術特徵的改進,粒子加速器也發揮著重要的間接作用。事實上,放射性核種在高階醫學成像中的使用正在顯著增加中,無論是常規核醫學的 SPECT 和 PET 成像,還是在粒子治療(質子和碳離子),本課程將介紹粒子加速器在醫療應用的原理及現況。 Particle accelerators are often associated with high energy or nuclear physics. As well pointed out in literature if we kindly analyze the number of installations worldwide we can easily note that about 50% is mainly devoted to medical applications(radiotherapy, medical radioisotopes production, biomedical research). Particle accelerators are also playing an important indirect role considering the improvement of the technical features of medical diagnostic. In fact, the use of radionuclide for advanced medical imaging is strongly increasing either in conventional nuclear medicine for SPECT and PET imaging also in particles therapy (proton and carbon ion). In this class, the role of particle accelerators for medical applications will be presented together with the main solutions applied.
