This course provides an overview of behavioral science that is currently used to understand health related behaviors and guide development of health promotion programs. It equally emphasizes on health promotion models, empirical research literatures and on specific applications in health programs and case studies. The newly emerging trends of incorporation of health informatics, smart health care, behavioral economics, new technology, and design thinking into health promotion programs are introduced and explored. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: 1. Understand the movement of health promotion development. 2. Understand range of theories and strategies used in designing and conducting health promotion programs. 3. Identify current issues in the health-related field that have an impact on promotion health behaviors and outcomes. 4. Analyze the health promotion program planning process, including development, intervention, evaluation. 5. Select appropriate theories, strategies and innovative ideas for a specific health behavior and draft a health promotion program project. 6. Learn about smart medical care in different health promotion fields. 7. Learn more about incorporating novel ideas in health promotion and management. 8. Translate evidence-based knowledge and innovative ideas into practice, and health promotion and management.
This course is designed for graduate students.

學習評量 (Requirements & Evaluations): 1. Class participation (10%) 2. Report and discussion on innovative ideas of health promotion/design thinking (20%) 3. Prepared presentation on comprehensive profiles of promoting and managing selected health related issue (30%) (1) The impacts and trend of the specific health related issue (2) The profiles of theory-driven and systemic approach of the specific health related issue (3) The gaps and chances of needs and unmet demands of the specific health related issue (4) A promotion and/or management product (services, processes, and/or strategy) designed with evidence for the specific health related issue by a selected system model (5) This approach brings together what is desirable from a human point of view with what is technologically feasible and economically viable. (6) Creativity and innovation. 4. Final written paper (40%) (12/24) Use the format required by the particular professional journal which you plan to submit your manuscript (protocol paper is acceptable).
