1.課程概述 Human beings know a lot about human beings and their behavior because there are historical records that are frequently quite well detailed and which are available to be reviewed by anyone who can read. What is more, technological apparatus in very recent years has revealed in extreme detail the biological functioning of human and animal behavior. Now, to what extent and in what ways is humanity a function of—History? Religion? Politics? Civilization? Morality? Ethics? Biology? Some combination? Let us look at a new attempt to answer these classic questions written by an anthropologist and an archaeologist. 2.課程目標 In this course, whose scope is vast—the entire history of humanity!—we will focus on a single book: The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity written by an anthropologist, David Graeber, and an archaeologist, David Wengrow. It is a book of great magnitude. Proceeding slowly, chapter by chapter, we will not memorize things so much as think about what can learn from this enormous synthesis of facts, concepts, and thoughts.
