This course is a basic mechanics course as one of the compulsory courses in the Department of Civil Engineering. Fundamental static analysis will be taught including, but not limited to: force equilibrium analysis, friction, calculation of the first moment of area and the moment of inertia, calculation of center of gravity and centroid, simple analysis of internal force of members, simple analysis of truss structure, etc. With the fundamental knowledge of Statics, students can continue to take courses in solid mechanics such as Mechanics of Materials, Structural Analysis, and Dynamics.
