The course developed in response to Taiwan's national policy, "Full-Scale Bilingualization of Taiwan's Educational System" (前瞻基礎建設:人才培育促進就業建設 2030 雙語國家政策計畫) introduces graduate students to theories, research, and practices in Teaching English in English (TEIE). Students will be introduced to the local and global trends in TEIE and be informed by TEIE research and scholarship. In this course, students will recognize the insights obtained from reading and discussing current research as well as develop professional English needed for English teachers at all levels. Also, informed by the instructor's previous research, this course will draw on evidence-based practices and help enhance the effectiveness of students' TEIE in their teaching contexts further supported by the use of online resources. Students will explore effective approaches and apply strategies that help enhance their abilities to use English for a variety of instructional purposes while building their confidence in TEIE. Learning Outcomes By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1. Gain in-depth knowledge of TEIE research and practices. 2. Identify research-informed TEIE strategies and practice various interactive, communicative approaches for teaching diverse English learners. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the language needed to carry out various classroom activities and learning tasks. 4. Plan, teach, reflect, and adjust classroom language needed for various types of lessons and activities. 5. Make use of online resources and technological tools to enhance the effectiveness of their TEIE. 6. Create a reflective teaching portfolio that demonstrates a thoughtful and reflective attitude toward their continuous development in TEIE.
This course is suitable for graduate students and undergraduate students with senior standing who are interested in developing professional knowledge and skills related to TESOL as well as building fluency and confidence in Teaching English in English.

• Attendance & participation (10%): Class attendance and quality participation are essential to the success of this class. More information, step-by-step instruction, and videos will be provided in class.

A combination of TEIE journal articles, readings, videos, online resources, and learning tasks will be shared on the course LMS via Google Classroom.
