高等有機化學(一)

The major objective of the class will be to develop an understanding of structures and reactivity of organic compounds. You will be introduced to a wide range of concepts and reactions used in modern organic synthesis. We will discuss the mechanism of these reactions and try to gain an appreciation for how the fundamental structural properties of a compound affect its chemical reactivity. While at times we will review some elementary concepts and topics that are covered in undergraduate organic lectures. Given the short amount of time for the course, many important reactions cannot be covered or will be discussed in a cursory manner. Hence you are strongly encouraged to fill in the gaps left in the class notes. The textbooks selected for the course and reading assignment should assist you in this endeavor.
