Bio-lab on a chip (Bio-LOC) is a device that integrates several laboratory functions on a single chip; It deals with the handling of extremely small fluid volumes. Bio-LOC is closely related to and overlaps with, microfluidics, which describes primarily the physics, manipulation, and study of minute amounts of fluids. The devices are a subset of MEMS devices and are often indicated by "Micro Total Analysis Systems" (μTAS) as well. Several specific topics will be taught in this course that includes: 1. Microfluidic devices, 2. DNA microarrays, 3. Protein microarrays, 4. Nano-biosensor, 5. Single DAN sequence, et al. The field of this course covers basic chemistry, biochemistry, nano-technology, semi-conductance-technology, and applications of these multidisciplinary sciences. 醫療科技的發展,個人化醫學的需求逐漸浮現。微小化、智慧化、高通量化與遠距化成為是技術的生醫發展的共同趨勢。本課程主旨在使同學對生物晶片有基本之認識,內容將涵蓋microfluidic devices, DNA microarrays,protein microarrays之操作原理,製作過程,以及應用範圍。課程中將生物晶片之種類與適用問題進行科學性、通俗性與系統性介紹,讓學生能夠有系統學習、易懂、並能實用。同時希望學生能藉由瞭解生物晶片及各式生醫系統之原理,引領學生對生物醫學檢測等基礎知識有所認知。並能啟發學生將來能協助生醫微製造技術(BioMEMS)的發展。因此課程設計上包括:1. 課程講授。2.學期末報告。另外上課以英文簡報介紹,培養學生未來以英文吸收專業知識之能力。
