This course is designed for students interested in developing their English skills in traveling. It will also help students prepare for the cultural differences they may encounter while traveling abroad and create a more open-minded and mature sense of the world. Learners will practice reading, listening and speaking skills needed in real-life situations. The real-life situations involve conversations and language used in air travel, hotels, restaurants, tours, and international travel destinations. These situations will equip students with knowledge when dealing with reservations, travel documents, immigration procedures, sightseeing, booking tours, ordering in restaurants, making requests, and many other situations an international traveler may face. This course material contains six chapters. Each chapter comprises three main parts: reading, listening and speaking, and authentic travel documents. The reading section consists of vocabulary, a piece of informative text, and a series of comprehensive questions, which facilitates reading comprehension skills and provides essential travel information. The listening and speaking section invites students to participate in warm-up exercises to identify key expressions and listening comprehension tasks from topic-related dialogues. The speaking activities focus on language that is used in real-life conversations. The authentic materials section provides learners with actual travel documents. These documents are provided to assess understanding and allow students to practice completing the documents they will encounter when traveling.

This course has no prerequisites.

This course covers a broad spectrum of travel topics. In the class, students will practice reading, listening, and speaking. They will also watch travel videos ( produced by famous travel writers, National Geographic and BBC), engage in group discussion, and submit completed worksheets at the end of the class.依照課本進度進行課堂講授、影片欣賞、分組報告。每堂課須完成課堂指定個人或分組作業,下課前需線上繳交表單或上傳於E3。
