Upon graduating from university the majority of students will then go on to seek full-time employment. The goal of this course is to provide students with the skills necessary to find employment opportunities and successfully navigate the recruitment process. The course will focus on three main components: finding the right job opportunities, producing professional and persuasive application materials, and impressing employers at the interview. We will also consider applications for internships and undergraduate placements. Each class will revolve around practical tasks and activities enabling students to become familiar with every stage of the recruitment process. Students will then work to create a portfolio of application documents which can be used directly to apply for a real job opportunity, internship or industrial placement. Successful students will have gained valuable skills to increase their employability and could potentially secure a position directly by using the materials produced over the duration of the course.
CEFR: B2 / C1 This course is ideally suited to final year students who are seeking employment at the end of the academic year. It is also suitable for 2nd and 3rd year students looking for internships before graduating. The course is not recommended to 1st year students as they may struggle to find examples of professional experience and key skills which will be developed in higher education, and are needed to complete application materials.
