概述

Science and technology studies is an approach that explores the intertwining relationships of science, technology and society in every way. It is also called "Science, Technology and Society", also abbreviated as STS. This approach has been rapidly expanding in recent years. Under the umbrella of STS reside many scholarly orientations, such as history and philosophy of science/technology/medicine, sociology and anthropology of science/technology/medicine, among many others. STS is therefore transdisciplinary in the sense that it intends to provide a perspective that is not bound by, but built upon, existing academic disciplines. STS aims to address historical and contemporary issues pertaining to the human condition in modern life; therefore, STS has been treated oftentimes as a must for modern citizens. This course is offered in English and listed as a core course in the domain of Science and Technology in Contemporary Society.
