This course aims to strengthen our master students' capability in scientific literature surveying and reading, on-stage oral presentation, as well as engaging in scientific conversation.

Each student needs to select a scientific paper (in the realm of cell biology) for her/his in-class on-stage presentation. This paper must be from a SCI-indexed journal within 12 months of her/his presentation. The student is expected to: 1) Carefully read the paper she/he selected as well as relevant papers to fully understand the paper. 2) Prepare an abstract written (in English) in her/his own words for the paper 3 days before the in-class presentation. 3) Prepare a 25 minutes Powerpoint (or equivalent software) presentation for the in-class on-stage presentation. 4) Engage in the discussion (25 minutes) taking place each class. Guideline for paper selection: 1) Within 12 months of the presentation date. 2) Within the realm of "cell biology". 3) Do NOT select a "review" paper or a "clinical report".

Abstract preparation (10%), on-stage presentation (70%), in-class participation (20%)

None, but each student must select a scientific paper from SCI-indexed journals within 12 months of her/his oral presentation date.
