This course provides an introduction to the methods and tools of statistical physics and the description of thermal properties of matter.
Working knowledge of Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics.
General principles of Statistical Mechanics, probability distributions, principles of Thermodynamics, Kinetic theory of gases, interacting particles, quantum statistical mechanics, selected applications in the description of solids, approach to equilibrium, phase transitions and scaling, computer simulations and Monte Carlo methods
