Students will learn elements of effective business communication by reading the assigned materials and practicing, including but not limited to planning, organizing and drafting a formal business report, delivering a presentation, mocking job interviews, and writing a résumé.
Students must have taken and passed the course Organization Behavior (at undergraduate or graduate level) offered by the Department of Management Science. 需先修過管科系開設的組織行為課程(大學部或碩士班皆可)方能選修本課程。
This course will be scheduled from 7 pm to 9 pm from Week 1 to 12.
1. Exams and Quizzes: There is no exam or quiz in this course. 2. Evaluation and Grading Policy: Weekly group presentation (solely based on textbook materials) (25%), final individual presentation (50%), and class participation (25%). (1) Weekly group presentation (solely based on textbook materials): Students will be grouped, and each team will be formed of 5 students. Each group must present one or two chapter(s) of the textbook for the class. The groupings should be finalized before the end of the first week of this semester. (2) Final individual presentation: Each student is required to deliver an individual professional business presentation near the end of this semester. The requirement is detailed below and please follow the guidelines carefully. (3) Class participation: Each student is encouraged to speak in class, no matter whether it is a question or comment related to our course.

Before the class on Week 5, each student must have the following documents at hand: (1) a résumé, (2) the job description of the position you plan to apply for, and (3) the frequently asked interview questions about the position that you can find on the internet. |

| 第 6 週 | Chapter 14. Interviewing and Following Up (presented by Group 4) In-class practice: Each student is going to be paired with another classmate, and they will be doing a mock interview. In the first round, one will be the interviewee, and the other will be the interviewer. In the second round, they will change their roles. After two rounds of mock interview, they will be asking to comment on each other's performance. |
