This course covers data converter circuit design in mixed-signal systems. We will discuss switched capacitor amplifiers/integrators, sample-and-hold circuits, Nyquist-rate data converters, and integrated circuits for oversampling data conversion. Since the major improvement in this area over the past decade has been developed using CMOS technology, this course will focus on the CMOS building blocks and circuit technologies for implementing these converters. This course requires extensive computer simulations. The objectives of this course are to learn the design considerations, proper system specifications, circuit modules, and topology trade-offs of data conversion ICs in different mixed-signal systems. We will also cover the evolution history of data conversion IC technology.
