Course Description: Through teaching and practical exercises, students will discover how mathematical/statistical concepts help us conduct the various components of health risk assessment and understand the applications of mathematical/statistical modeling to various study sciences, including toxicology, pharmacology, and risk assessment. Course Objective: The major objective is to provide students with a basic understanding of the principles of mathematical and statistical modeling, including benchmark dose (BMD), probabilistic analysis (Monte Carlo simulation), pharmacokinetics (PK)/toxicokinetics (TK), pharmacodynamics (PD)/toxicodynamics (TD), and physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK). Also, to promote students to understand how these models/methods are applied in risk assessment.
