Course Description: The present course is intended for English majors who possess an elevated level of English proficiency and seek to enhance their aptitude in reading and listening within the domain of journalistic English. The program aims to cultivate students' capacity to read and comprehend intricate texts, such as news articles, opinion pieces, and feature stories in press media. In addition, the course will equip students with improved listening skills through the utilization of podcasts, news broadcasts, and interviews in digital media. The curriculum endeavors to impart a profound comprehension of journalistic writing style, encompassing specialized vocabulary, tone, and structure. Course Objectives: After fulfilling the requirements of the course, students will be equipped to: 1. Attain proficiency in the mastery of advanced techniques for the comprehension of journalistic English texts 2. Enhance their listening acumen within the purview of journalistic English 3. Foster lexical expansion pertinent to journalistic writing 4. Apprehend the structural and tonal nuances in journalistic writing 5. Exercise critical thinking and evaluative acuity in analyzing journalistic texts.

Lecturing, Discussion, Quizzes

Class participation will be assessed based on students' engagement in discussions and activities, and their ability to apply course concepts to real-world examples. Midterm and final exam will test students' understanding of course content, including journalistic language, reading and listening comprehension strategies. Reading and listening quizzes will be used to test students' knowledge and comprehension of course material, as well as provide ongoing feedback on their progress.
