The course offers the basic training in writing a literary research paper on the graduate level. Learning to do the documentation according to the latest MLA style format will be the core of the curriculum. The course will also walk the students through the process of writing and devising the paper topic, thesis statement, abstract, and paper outline, before a scholarly essay is successfully composed as the final product. Students will be required to read the weekly assigned materials and write an online response. Presentations on a scholarly paper and an academic journal are also required. A research paper in English of 5 to 7 pages in length is to be submitted by the end of the semester as the term project. Students shall decide on what to write by the midterm that takes the form of a one-on-one interview with the instructor. All reading and writing assignments, as well as the class discussions, will be conducted in English.
Instructor: Kien Ket Lim
