This course provides the basic design and analysis of wireless communications systems. The topics range from wireless propagation channel, digital communication design and analysis, multiple access schemes, cell planning, MIMO, NOMA, etc. Students taking this course should especially learn (i) basic properties of wireless channels, such as fading and delay dispersion; (ii) basic digital communication for wireless systems, such as BER analysis in fading channels; (iii) methods that help dealing with wireless challenges, such as diversity; (iv) multi-user and multi-cell wireless systems; (v) advanced wireless techniques, such as MIMO and D2D communications; (vi) the ability to studying and investigating cutting-edge wireless communication systems, such as 5G and 6G systems.
Probability, Linear Algebra, and Signal and Systems
All course materials are provided through the new e3 system. Currently, we plan to have the in-person lecture, though it could change to online lecture if the pandemic continues to be severe.
1. Around 8~12 homework problem sets will be provided, depending on the progress of the lecture. 2. A midterm will be given in the middle of the semester and the final will be given at the end of the semester. The final exam will be focusing on the materials in the second half of the semester, though materials in the first half of the semester will still be relevant.
