Laser Chemistry is an advanced course that explores the fundamental principles and applications of lasers in the field of chemistry. The course delves into the interaction between light and matter, focusing on the unique properties and capabilities of lasers in chemical processes. Through theoretical discussions and practical exercises, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of laser chemistry and its significance in various areas of research and technology. Course Objectives: 1. Understand the basic principles of lasers and their applications in chemistry. 2. Explore the interaction of light with matter and the mechanisms behind laser-induced chemical reactions. 3. Understand the spectroscopic techniques used in laser chemistry for analyzing molecular structures and dynamics. 4. Gain knowledge of advanced laser systems and their role in various fields, such as materials science, environmental science, and biomedicine.
This course is intended for students with introductory-level knowledge in physical chemistry, organic chemistry, quantum chemistry, and photochemistry. Since there are not many students in the applied chemistry department who have studied optics, the presence or absence of knowledge in optics is not a requirement.
