科學史的研究發展與轉向

This course focuses on the shifts and turns in the development of history of science in recent decades. Instead of delineating an overview of the history of science from ancient time to the present, its aim is to highlight major historiographical trends in the making of contemporary history of science scholarship and to illustrate how these shifts and turns are enriched by science and technology studies. We will read important texts that contribute to methodological innovations in the field, including the turn to the practice and materiality of science, the importance of space and geography, the circulation and communication of knowledge, and the transnational and global approach. We will also discuss new scholarship incorporating these analytical tools in understanding the history of science in the East Asian context.
