應用英文

本課程主題為「應用英文」,修課對象為大一以上同學,課程旨在創造良好英語學習環境,藉由課堂活動、撰寫摘要應用句型、報告加強發音並提升英文對話能力,使用英文表達想法,強化敘事及反思能力,與他人溝通、找出問題並解決之。 透過閱讀分析文章等,深化學人中學六年所學之英文聽、說、讀、寫能力。透過課堂「聽力練習」,訓練學人寫下關鍵字及抓重點能力。課堂「改寫句子」及「撰寫摘要」加強書寫及句型應用能力,亦加強「獨立思考」、「組織能力」及「敘事」及「反思」能力。「撰寫摘要」加強英文檢定考試答題技巧,口語報告加強發音、口說及表達能力。 本課程強調自主與深度學習能力及自我管理,提升國際移動力,進一步加強人文素養及對世界的關懷。 The course “Advancing English” is intended for sophomores or above; it aims to create a classroom for students to immerse in an all-English environment. Through classroom activities: writing summaries, applying sentence patterns, and oral reports, it strengthens pronunciation and enhances English conversation skills so that students can use English to express ideas, strengthens their narrative and reflective abilities and communicates with others. It also seeks to help students identify problems and solve them. Through reading and analyzing “Advancing English,” this course discusses philosophical questions and deepens students’ English listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities acquired in middle school. Through classroom activity like “listening practice,” it trains students to write down keywords and grasp the main points. Classroom activities such as “rewriting sentences” and “writing summaries” enhance students’ writing skills and sentence application abilities. They further strengthen “independent thinking”, “organizational ability” and “story-telling” and “reflective” abilities. “Writing summaries” further enhances English test answering skills as oral presentations improve pronunciation and enhance speaking and expression. This course emphasizes autonomous and deep learning abilities and self-management. It also enhances international mobility, and strengthens humanistic literacy and care for the world.

Classroom notes (10 notes in total) 2. Summaries written in class (5 units in total, hence 5 grades in total) The summary must have a complete paragraph structure: A topic sentence, two examples and a conclusive remark: The topic sentence 20% + two examples 40% + a conclusive remark 20% + diction and grammar 20% = 100% Oral Exam (5 units in total, hence 5 grades in total) Oral presentation: pronunciation 25% + intonation 25% + fluency 25% + interaction 25% = 100% 20 scores in total.
