In this course, we will cover the design principles of a computer, including the instruction set architecture, the arithmetic operations, the processor microarchitecture, the memory subsystem, and the parallel computing schemes. In addition to lectures on the design theories, this course also requires you to implement and simulate a simple computer system using the Verilog programming language through a series of homework projects.
Introduction to Computers and Programming Digital Circuit Design
All lecture slides will be available on E3. Each week we have an one-hour video lecture and a two-hour on-site lecture. The Homework projects require you to design a pipelined processor in Verilog HDL, and verify its function using an RTL simulator.
