The aim of this course is to provide the basics of the geometrical optics and understand the role of geometrical optics in optical instruments and physical system. The first half of the course is mainly to cover the fundamental concept of the geometrical optics and its applications to some simple optical instruments, such as lenses and mirrors. The second half of the course focuses on the ray equations and the applications to more advanced optical instruments.
Undergraduate optics course
教學資源: Basic principles of optics: from textbook, optical system and experimental methods: related papers and references from literature. 教學方法: Lectures will be given in English.
評量方法: midterm (30%), final (30%), project (20%), homework (20%) Homework will be given to apply the principles in real situations. Projects will be given to students to practice the ray tracing program.
