Over view 課程概述 The theme of the course is the devices made of soft matter, and how to operate their optics with voltage and current. Soft matter includes liquid, liquid crystal, polymer, and biological/biomass materials. The physical concept is introduced first, and then the application in everyday life will be discussed. The lectures have three parts: (I) Visual devices: displays and physics of vision (II) Bio-inspired devices: biological photonic crystals, self-assembled structures in living creature (III) Advanced devices: quantum optoelectronics, environmental friendly electronics, sustainable electronic material, biomed applications The course forms are seminars and lab practices. 本課程的主題是使用軟物質、製作可電控的光學元件。 軟物質包含液態物質、液晶、高分子聚合物、和生物生質材料。 課程中會介紹這些光電元件的原理,在介紹如何在日常生活中運用這些元件。 本課程分成三部份: (I) 視覺元件:顯示器與視覺的物理 (II) 仿生元件:生物光子晶體、生物自動自發生長成型的微結構 (III) 前瞻元件:光量子元件、環保永續電子材料、生質材料、醫學材料 上課方式為讀書會與實作體驗。 Intended Learning Outcomes 預期的學習成果 (I) Create visual appearance with electronically tunable soft matter (II) Recognize the optics of biological tissues, and applied these knowledge to design optoelectronics (III) Explore the environment-friendly sustainable new materials for optoelectronics (I) 用電控方法操作軟物質,創造視覺效果 (II) 辨識生物組織產生的光學現象,並運用這些知識創作光電元件 (III) 認識、探索對環境友善、可以永續經營的光電材料
