概述

The goal of this course is to equip students with knowledge and skills in Computer Graphics for a productive role in visual computing, including games and movies, computer aided design, scientific simulation, and computer vision/artificial intelligence. After an overview of the computer graphics pipeline, the first portion of the course will teach students how to implement visually stunning yet simple real-time rendering programs via modern shader programming (using C++, OpenGL, and GLSL shaders). The second portion focuses on geometric processing, i.e., the geometric presentations of 3D objects and how to process them for the better. The course will then covers several important topics such as procedural modeling, animations and ray-tracing. The course will have a two exams (mid-term and final), several programming assignments, and several homeworks.

先修科目

Basic C++ programming and mathematics (e.g., linear algebra線性代數, trigonometry三角函數).

教學方式

In-person classes mostly. Remote classes if needed. All course materials are in English.

評分方式

Mid-term exam, 20%. Final exam, 20%. 3 programming assignments, 10% each. Several homeworks, 20% total. Class participation, 10% total. (Asking or answering a course-related question during class will get you 0.5 points each.) Class attendance is mandatory (the teacher or TA will check). To be absent from class with penalty, you need to send a email to the teacher to explain your reasons first. Every class absence without proper email notification will deduct you 5 points! Cheating during exams will fail the course unconditionally. For programming assignments and homeworks, it is ok to reference/copy information from internet. It is forbidden to copy other students' programming assignments and homeworks. If you get caught, you lose all the points for the programming assignment / homework. Grading is generous in general in which the majority (at least half) of the students will get a good grade (A or A-), a few outstanding ones (A+), and only students who seldom turned their homeworks/assignments/exams will fail.
