經濟學

本課程介紹當代個體經濟學與總體經濟學之基本概念。首先介紹市場中供給與需求如何決定價格與數量。接著分析完全競爭市場與市場效率,以及價格管制可能造成的無謂損失。最後介紹市場不完美性,包含: 獨佔、寡佔、獨佔性競爭與外部性,以及公共政策是否可能解決市場無效率的問題。總體經濟學部分,首先介紹GDP等重要總體經濟變數與資料;再來介紹長期經濟體系,探討經濟成長趨勢與實質利率如何被決定,以及中央銀行所扮演的角色。最後介紹短期經濟體系,探討一季到數年的短期實際經濟表現偏離長期平均趨勢的景氣波動議題,例如: 當發生供給面或需求面的衝擊時,政府應不應該有所做為? 若政府介入,可採用哪些貨幣政策與財政政策以解決問題? Course overview This course will introduce basic concepts of modern economics. The first part of the course will cover principles of microeconomics. We will begin by exploring an idealized, perfectly competitive market in which consumers are perfectly informed and no firm has market power. The concepts of supply, demand, elasticity, and market equilibrium and efficiency will be introduced. We will then discuss market imperfections, including monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition, and externalities. The second part of the course will cover principles of macroeconomics. We will first introduce key macroeconomics variables, e.g. GDP, followed by discussion of the economy in the long run, such as the determinants of economic growth and real interest rates. Finally, the course will focus on the economy in the short-run, including business cycles and monetary and fiscal policies to eliminate output gaps. 課程目標 (1) 介紹當代經濟學主要內容。 (2) 使同學獲得清晰的經濟學觀念與架構,並靈活運用於日常生活。 (3) 提升同學解讀公共政策與經濟現象之能力,並進行經濟思考。 Course aims (1) To provide students with an introduction to the principles and major content of modern economics. (2) To equip students with clear economic concepts. (3) To enhance students' ability to comprehend public policies and economic phenomena, and conduct economic thinking.
