此課程結合文化理論與媒體產業分析,探究網路串流媒體傳播,包括Netflix、Apple TV+、Disney+,已如何轉化全球影視文化。政治與政策也主導數位傳播革命,追溯歷史,了解媒體全球化演變,以及目前不斷發展的全球擴張。電影與電視做為影像廣播媒體媒介,現已經由無線網路傳遞影像至我們的手機螢幕、iPad與電腦。Netflix現是世界上最大最多訂閱觀看用戶的線上點選即播放服務,觀看者想要觀賞的電影與電視影集,滑指之間即可享受,無遠弗界;而且Netflix改變媒體內容的流通。 此課研討在網路世代全球媒體,如何使用串流媒體打破國際地理、商業市場疆界的隔閡,以可行銷全球的影視作品,與國際間的觀眾、市場、機構交流及影響。但也有些問題,舉例: 平台有地區阻隔,(像是「這部片在該地區無法取得撥放」)、播放清單從一國家到另一國家的萎縮與擴張、訂閱價格以不同的貨幣出現、字幕與標題無法提供本土語言等等。此課探究以上種種情況,提供了解數位媒體傳播的真實地理性。Netflix的故事不只包括美國,從阿根廷到澳洲,Netflix由矽谷研發爬升至國際串流線上影視服務,已如何轉換將媒體消費拉至全球(包括歐洲、英國、德國等)跨國規模。 這門課「Netflix媒體影視評析」將可幫助修課學生了解在你我身邊這個複雜不斷變換的串流媒體環境。並且每週搭配教科書課本內容,分析評論數齣精選當代暢銷觀看人數眾多的優質電影與電視影集,例如:階級議題在著名的英國電視影集Downton Abbey (six seasons 2010-2015) , 電影Downton Abbey (2019), 與最新開拍電影Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)、Bridgerton (1st Season 2020, 2nd Season 2022), 建造法國凡爾賽宮的法王路易十四執政時期政治、外交、領土、戰爭、貴族、平民、性愛、謀殺、神秘鐵面人豐富內容的影集Versailles (2018, 3 Seasons)、美國政治權謀的Netflix自創影集House of Cards (6 seasons, 2013-2018)、揭露現實殘忍競爭的芭蕾舞集Tiny Pretty Things (2020)、 滑冰影集Spinning Out (2020) (研討性、謀殺與奮鬥),並加入串流媒體Apple TV+之美國女詩人Emily Dickinson (2019),Disney+之 Star Wars 和 Marvel 兩大 IP 之原創衍生劇:The Mandalorian (2019-2020)與Wandavision (2021),以及台灣亦於Netflix播放的影集《模仿犯》、《斯卡羅》、《茶金》等,教導學生以戲劇明瞭相關文學、歷史、社會、經濟、政治、感情、人性、戰爭等重要議題。

1. 平時口頭報告 Oral Presentation(10%)Take turns in doing an oral presentation 2. 上課參與回答問題及出席Participation in Class and Presence (20%) 3. 4次作業、隨堂考,與筆記 Homework, Quiz, and Notes (20%) 4. 期中口頭與書面報告 Mid-term Presentation and mid-term report(20%) 5. 校外教學報告及觀賞影視劇書面報告 (10%) 6. 期末口頭與書面報告 Final Presentation and final report(20%) 公喪病假須事先附證明. 並提早至少一週前告知老師與助教. 生理假與心理假若缺席, 公平考量全班其他有準時出席, 有準時於時效內繳交作業的學生的較高分數起見, 若該週上課有作業或隨堂考, 生理假與心理假缺席則無該週出席成績, 沒隨堂考成績. 隨堂考很簡單, 題目不難已經出了, 不能補考. 作業補交須於Deadline後三天內補繳, 分數打折. 再逾期就不用補交作業了. 謝謝合作. 期末報告不能缺席, 不能補交.
