語言學概論(一)

本課程使用華語授課。課程旨在介紹語言學的基本概念和主要領域,培養學生系統性地研究語言的能力。學生將學習如何觀察和分析語言的抽象模式,並探索這些語言組成部分如何具體地在社會中使用,以及與人類的心理與腦認知功能相關。本課程將會從語言的一般性定義開始介紹,並討論一般影視與傳播媒體中常引用的「語言相對論」,以破除相關「語言決定論」的迷思,以此引申到當代生成語言學的思想基礎。隨後進入語言學的子領域主題。 本課程涵蓋以下主要子領域: 1. 語音學 (Phonetics):研究語音的產生和感知。 2. 音韻學 (Phonology):探討語音的系統性組織。 3. 語用學 (Pragmatics):研究語言在具體情境中的使用和理解。 4. 社會語言學 (Sociolinguistics):探討語言與社會因素之間的關係。 5. 心理語言學 (Psycholinguistics):研究語言的認知過程。 6. 手語語言學 (Sign Language Linguistics):認識手語的基本特性。 本課程旨在做為語言學領域的入門課程,會將焦點放在引介語言學入門知識,以及同時讓同學了解語言學涵蓋的領域。若同學對於某個特定領域有興趣更深入的認識,可以在之後選修相關的進階課程。外文系的同學也會在大二時必修「語音學/音韻學」與「句法學/語意學」的必修課程。構詞學、句法學與語意學等主題,將會在「語言學概論(二)」介紹。

If your assignment is of acceptable quality, you will obtain 4 out of 5; if your assignment is of excellent quality, you will obtain 5 out of 5. If your assignment is of low quality, you will get a mark between 2 to 3. (1) Pick a language and write an introduction (800 English words or 1200 Chinese characters max) on two things that surprise you that need to be related to any two topics covered in this course. (2) Write an 800-word English essay (or 1200-character Mandarin essay) to discuss one book related to linguistics that you read; this shouldn't be an introductory linguistics textbook. (3) Attend two linguistics-related talks and summarize the talks (400 English words, or 600 Chinese characters each).
