The course aims to cover the essential concepts of how computers operate at the machine and assembly language levels. It delves into the design of instruction set architecture and highlights the differences between Reduced Instruction Set Computers (RISC) and Complex Instruction Set Computers (CISC). By studying the components of a computer and its system performance, students will gain knowledge of fundamental design principles. The course equips students with the necessary background to design computer systems, develop operating system kernels and device drivers, and create better computer applications.
Students should already have the background on: - Digital Logic - C Language
1. Deliver knowledge through lectures 2. Assess understanding through homework and exams 3. Confirm knowledge through project implementation
