This course aims to improve students’ listening and speaking skills. Students will develop skills and strategies for listening to authentic talks, speeches, academic lectures from a variety of fields. Students will listen to academic lectures, develop note-taking skills, and synthesize and respond to content. Students will also develop skills for discussion through a variety of interactive activities, and skills for making effective academic presentations. On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. comprehend listening materials on both familiar and unfamiliar academic topics; 2. apply their listening and note-taking skills and strategies in academic settings; 3. maintain a discussion on topics of general academic nature and global issues; 4. deliver a well-organized presentation on an academic topic
